There are government research grants on health and medicine issues that affect women including breast cancer, healthy aging, reproductive health and more. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the largest funder of health and biomedical research in the world. Women researchers may apply for NIH grants for government funding on a variety of scientific and medical topics.

The Department of Health and Human Services awards grants to organizations that work on issues that affect women such as poverty, lack of housing, domestic violence, and children’s well being. These government grants on women’s issues are usually awarded to non-profits and state and local governments to provide services.

There are also state and local grant programs for a variety of services for women, children, and families. These government grants are usually provided to organizations with a track record of excellence in serving women in need.

Assistance Benefits for Women

There is personal assistance available for women in need. This assistance is not a government grant, but an entitlement that eligible women are automatically able to receive.
